AVID/Freshman Seminar

AVID

AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an approved elective program offered during the school day. Students are typically selected to enroll in AVID through an application process.

For one class period each day, AVID students develop organizational and study skills, strengthen critical thinking by asking probing questions, receive academic support from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities designed to make college a realistic and attainable goal.

Students enrolled in AVID are also encouraged to take at least one of their school’s most rigorous courses—such as Honors, Advanced Placement® (AP), or Dual Credit—in addition to the AVID elective. As they progress through the AVID program, students often see growth in self-confidence, academic success, and leadership, becoming positive role models within the school community.

COURSES OFFERED:

  • AVID 2
  • AVID 2 ML
